UN/SPOOL Companion piece launch at Heiser Gallery

At the Queensland Poetry Festival this year, Nathan Shepherdson and I performed UN/SPOOL, a poetic response to Maya Deren’s 1943 film Meshes of the Afternoon.

As part of the creative process, we created a companion piece: a dos-a-dos bound, double-titled book, hand stitched with laser cut covers. A limited run of 52 copies have been made available. One title consists of the performance pieces from UN/SPOOL and the other is called A gram of ideas on art, form and film and consists of found poetry from Deren’s essay ‘An Anagram of ideas on Art, Form and Film’. Companion piece to UN/SPOOL We will launch the companion piece at Heiser Gallery on Saturday afternoon, 8th November, where we will once again perform UN/SPOOL, this time in the intimate gallery space and alongside the current exhibition, House of Breath,  by Arryn Snowball. Copies of the book can be purchased for the special price of $40 at the launch.
