Quasimodo’s Dream: a David Lynch inspired night at Queensland Poetry Festival
After the wonderful Between Two Worlds exhibition at GOMA this year, the David Lynch love keeps coming with the session Quasimodo’s Dream at the Queensland Poetry Festival at 10pm, Saturday 29th August at the Judith Wright Centre.
Artists will be responding poetically to the films or work of David Lynch. Performers include TISM’s Damian Cowell, Tessa Rose & Adam Hadley, Arts Queensland Poet in Residence Kate Durbin, Klare Lanson, QPF Co-director David Stavanger with Richard Grantham, Ivy Alvarez , Angela Meyer, Justin Clemens and Italy’s Elisa Biagini.
Many of the artists are here to present or participate in other QPF events. For instance, Damian Cowell will be performing his not-to-be-missed Hara-Karaoke earlier in the evening, Elisa Biagini has a tantalising workshop on visual poetry on Friday, Kate Durbin will be performing a special Brisbane version of Hello Selfie in the Brunswick mall on Saturday afternoon, Hadley and Angela Meyer will be featuring at a whiskey speakeasy on Thursday night, Tessa Rose will be performing with me in 24 Hour Gym at 3pm Sunday 30th (also featuring the excellent Kate Durbin and Quinn), and Klare Lanson will be performing with Clocked Out Duo in #wanderingcloud. Be sure to check out the full program to see what else is on.
I will be performing a piece inspired by David’s love of the road, dreams, the music of Angelo Badalamenti, and intervalometer films such as the short below. I will also MC the night, which promises to be too dreamy.
